It's the end of the World as we know it, and NO, I DON'T feel fine!

I was reading an interesting
article on The Huffington Post, that bastion of liberal propaganda on the net, concerning global warming and why our usual approach to problem solving as a civilization is doomed to failure. As in most cases, human politics is equipped mostly to deal with matters of a political nature, but not matters of rock-solid expediency. Politics is an incremental, come-at-it-slowly sort of approach to problems that gets the job done, but only over time and at a great cost to those effected by the problem it is dealing with, such as women's rights or legislating work place safety rules. You CAN wrestle a bull into a chute, but it takes time and a lot of help to do it.
We here in the United States finally got around to making it perfectly natural for a black woman to apply to any college in the country and get in if that person met all the basic requirements expected of any applicant, of any race or creed. However, that took FOREVER to make possible and many people suffered the indignities of the problem before it was corrected. However, When you have a Fascist regime invading it's neighbors or a very large chuck of rock headed for impact with the planet, politics as usual simply does not work to head off the event. Hitler and his Nazi's loved political discourse in that it gave him time to get in his first licks without any real opposition. A killer asteroid keeps coming no matter how many studies an administration might throw at it rather than deal with it immediately.
There are very learned, concerned individuals in positions of power that are actively sounding the alarm, but true to human nature, there are almost as many on the opposite side of the coin wallowing in denial and paranoid suspicion, actively blocking any real effort to address the problem. Strangely, if the communist conspiracy had actually succeeded, and whoever the dictator of the moment happened to be was informed of the threat, it would have already been taken care of, no argument, no compromises. However, most of the countries in a position to do something about climate change are democracies, and true to their nature, they are almost paralyzed by their own blocs of special interests who at least believe they stand to lose big time if the threat is accepted as real and properly addressed. Yes, there are very rich and powerful people who would rather risk not only their own children and grandchildren, but yours, mine and everyone else's rather than lose one penny of their wealth. Thus, we as a species are frozen in place like deer in headlights, and that car isn't even going to bother to swerve or tap the brakes.
Another words, wether you wish to believe it or not, I am convinced that the human race is facing an extremely challenging future, if not it's very extinction. The effects already starting to manifest themselves are already putting pressure on our ecosystem that it has not evolved to handle, for life on earth does not usually have to face sudden changes, but normally adjusts to changing conditions over a much longer timespan. We already have historical evidence that sudden changes in our climate or impacts from meteors or comets have snuffed out large percentages of all life on Earth, yet still our religions have too many of us believing that the Earth was manufactured in six days only 5000 years ago, and that nothing of the sort has happened. All that fossil evidence was put there by Satan to mislead us. THAT's what science has to contend with, and science so far seems to be losing. So kiss your ass goodbye.
What really pisses me off about conservatives is the way they continually harp about "family values", while at the same time, would rather risk the very life of their grandchildren, or even their children, than admit that maybe, JUST maybe, these 90% of all scientists on this planet who insist that we are imperiled by runaway climate change could POSSIBLY be right. No, damn it, they are damn well gonna insist on their "God-given" right to drive an SUV to work, rather than than trade that planet-killer in on something much more fuel efficient, and maybe have a beneficial effect on the environment as well as their pocket book. Do you people REALLY think that because someone is "Liberal", they spend every waking moment trying to figure out some way to take something away from you? Do you honestly think we give a damn whether or not you have all the toys you can afford? Do you really think there's something inherently "evil" in our caring for our planet? Well, if so, then I wish you would go back to the insane planet YOU are living on and kill it before you kill MINE.
Sigh…….why waste my breathe……..we are all suicide blonde.
